Review of Early Intervention Services Costs Claimed by New Jersey to the Medicaid Program

New Jersey's claims for Federal Medicaid reimbursement for early intervention services paid to providers subsequent to 1 year from the date of service and submitted as a result of its contract with Covansys Corporation did not always comply with Federal and State regulations. Of the 100 claims in our random sample, 94 complied with Federal and State requirements, but 6 did not. Based on our sample results, we estimate that the State improperly claimed $109,000 to the Medicaid program during our July 1, 2005, to June 30, 2007, audit period.
