Freedom Medical Labs Agreed to Be Excluded for 7 Years for Allegedly Submitting False Claims for Genetic Tests Tainted by Improper Remuneration

On March 31, 2025, in connection with the resolution of its False Claims Act liability, Freedom Medical Labs, LLC (Freedom), Silver Spring, Maryland, agreed to be excluded from participation in all Federal health care programs under 42 U.S.C. 1320a-7(b)(7) for seven years. The investigation revealed and OIG alleged that Freedom caused the submission of false claims to the Medicaid program by providing and receiving illegal remuneration that was tied to the referral of cancer genomic testing (CGX) claims by Premier Medical, Inc. when such claims were not medically necessary and/or not performed.
